STEM Fest 2022 will be a diverse in-person exploration of careers with Female STEM Professionals! Participants will explore the skies and stars, study plant life cycles, prep a Wave Glider for launch, discover volcanoes, and so much more! Outreach Assistant Jameeka Marshall will lead troop members in grades 6-12 through a modified Teen Astronomy Cafe To-Go module, Breaking the Solar System. The students will use simulations to model gravitational interactions between planetary objects and apply data from hot Jupiters to simulate exoplanet systems. This activity is conducted in a Python Notebook, a web-based interactive computational environment that contains code, text, and plots. Each participant will receive an AstroKit that includes Hawaiian cultural astronomy information, an astronomy careers brochure, and beautiful astronomical images.
