AuxTel First Remote Operation

After several months of joint efforts between the IT and Software teams in Chile, the dome and shutter at the Auxiliary Telescope were remotely controlled for the first time on May 16th. The technical deployment involves communications from the control servers in LSST’s computer room using the Cisco ACI network infrastructure, where the CSCs (Commandable SAL Components) are hosted in containers deployed by docker-compose and commanded by Python scripts. These scripts are available at Github for sharing across sites for replicability purposes.
