NOAO is hosting a workshop, “Tools for Astronomical Big Data,” to survey the present state of the art in addressing the challenges of conducting research with large astronomical data sets. Topics will include:

  1. The visualization of large datasets.
  2. A survey of efficient algorithms for processing large datasets.
  3. The efficient development of, and interaction with, large databases.
  4. The use of “machine learning” methodologies.

*Wednesday March 11 will be a transition day between the “Tools for Astronomical Big Data” (morning) and “DECam Community Science Workshop” (afternoon) workshops. Participants registered for either workshop may attend morning and afternoon sessions that day; or you can register for both at a discounted rate.
